Value Education

Cultural heritage classes are conducted for the students on the first Sunday of every month. Monastic members as well as eminent HR personalities take classes on a regular basis. Students are encouraged to practise meditation before the commencement of each class to help them lead a stress free life.

IAYP Programme

In 2002, Rasik Bhita was enrolled with the International Award for Young People (The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award). IAYP has come forward to include the students under its Special Project scheme, as most of them come from the lower income group.

The students have to work in four categories: skill, physical achievement, service and adventure.

The neighbourhood watches with interest as the Rasik Bhita girls regularly clean the narrow lanes of Dakshineswar, meticulously picking up the plastic bags and other litter so harmful to the environment. They can be seen vigorously mopping the bathing ghats of Sri Sarada Math. Participation in the IAYP programme has brought the students fresh skills and interests, bolstered their self-confidence and strengthened their ability to adjust.

Co-Curricular Activities

In connection with the 150th birth celebration of Holy Mother held in December, 2003 the students enacted "Anwesha" - a bi-lingual (Bengali & English) play, portraying world famous literary characters from the Upanishads, novels and stories reflecting the noble qualities of Holy Mother. They also participated in the English & Bengali speech and essay competitions held in connection with the celebration. Out of the participants, three students received prizes for their good performance. Special occasions like Independence Day, National Youth Day (Swami Vivekananda's birthday) are also observed at Rasik Bhita.
